Dr Cheng is an Associate
Professor of City University of Hong Kong, the Chairman
and CEO of MaCaPS International Ltd. and an IT Expert
in Smart Card and Security held 6 invention patents
and 5 patent applications. He was a Military System
IT professional in UK developing mine clearing and submarine
tracking systems.
Dr Cheng is very
active in IT professional services. He is a Director
of The Professional Validation Council of Hong Kong
Industries (PVCHK), a Member of Executive Committee
of Hong Kong IT Joint Council, IT Committee of Federation
of Hong Kong Industries, Advisory Committee on Code
of Practice for Recognized Certificate Authorities (ACCOP);
an external examiner of Hong Kong Institute of Vocational
Education (IVE). He was also a Past Chairman of Institute
of Electrical Engineers (IEE), a Past VP of The Hong
Kong Association for the Advancement of Science &
Technology (HKAAST), a Past VP and Founding Member of
Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Association, and
a member of 2nd Election Committee.
Dr Cheng is heavily
engaging in IT industries advancement and founded a
Technology company MaCaPS which has strong link with
SME companies and has won an IT infrastructure project.
He also leads a number of innovative projects in Smart
Card, RFID and IP Protection areas.
Dr Cheng is also active in promoting
IT education and personally engaged in training Secondary
School students which guided students to win a number
of prestige awards including the "Minor Planet (20780)".
He is dedicated in involving young IT professionals in
professional activities and has established the Institute
of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Younger Member Section (YMS)
in 1994 and is now the largest Younger Member Section
(YMS). He is also unreservedly campaigning for teachers
and parents benefits and rights. He is currently the President
of City Unversity of Hong Kong Teachers' Union and the
Chairman of Heep Yeen School Parent Teacher Association
(PTA). |
